Join us for our Monthly Feedback Session—a dedicated space for writers to receive constructive and thoughtful feedback on their work. This session is designed to help members refine their writing, gain fresh perspectives, and grow within a supportive community.
How It Works:
- Submission Guidelines: We typically review three pieces per session, with a word limit of 3,000 words per submission. Pieces need to be submitted by the preceding Friday to give all attendees an opportunity to read the submissions before the session. Should writers be seeking specific feedback or find it necessary to provide attendees with context to their submitted piece, such information is to be included at the top of a submission. Any such information will count towards the total word count of the submission.
- Feedback Guidelines: All attendees, whether submitting a piece or not, should have read the submissions before the session and be able to provide constructive criticism. We do not have specific feedback requirements, but do ask that everyone is honest in their assessment of the pieces and pointing out the aspects which did or did not work. Please keep in mind that unless developmental feedback or line edits were requested by the writer, reviewers should refrain from providing such.
- Feedback Process: A 30 minute slot is allocated to each submission. During the session, writers will have the opportunity to introduce their piece and remind attendees of the type of feedback they’re seeking. We ask that the introduction be kept brief. As the group discusses a submission, the writer will be in “listen-only” mode, allowing them to absorb all insights and comments fully. There will be opportunity for the writer to ask for clarifications once attendees have finished providing their feedback.
- Location: Sessions usually take place online on the group’s Discord server. Membership is required to gain access to the server. The occasional in person feedback session may take place in central London.
- New Members: Feedback sessions are open to all members. We encourage new members to attend a few sessions before submitting their work. This helps you get acquainted with our group’s dynamic and feedback style.
